As of April 17, 2025, EUR/USD has declined to around 1.13459. After a strong upward move on the 16th, the price paused near its highs and is now trading around the 50-period moving average. The key question is whether this decline is merely a healthy pullback or the beginning of a broader trend reversal.

The bullish momentum is fading, with several bearish candles forming around 1.13800, many of which have upper wicks. This suggests that buying pressure is weakening and selling pressure is increasing. The price is still slightly above the 50MA, but if it breaks below this level, the next support zone around 1.13200–1.13000 may be tested.
The Average Directional Index (ADX) climbed close to 60 during the surge on the 16th but has since dropped below 40, indicating a weakening trend. This opens the door to a potential pause in the uptrend, a shift to range-bound conditions, or even a reversal.
The MACD line remains above the signal line, but the gap is narrowing, and the histogram is gradually shrinking. This indicates that bullish momentum is fading. If a bearish crossover occurs, it could signal stronger downward pressure in the short term.
The pair is currently at a crossroads — whether this is a dip-buying opportunity or the start of a deeper correction. If the 50MA holds as support, the uptrend could resume. However, a clear break below may lead to further downside.
Buy Scenario
Entry: Upon confirmation of a rebound from the 50MA
Target: 1.1380 to 1.1400
Stop-loss: Below 1.1325
Sell Scenario
Entry: On a confirmed break below 1.1330
Target: 1.1300 or 1.1275
Stop-loss: Above 1.1365
The previous uptrend has paused, and the pair is now testing support. Given the weakening momentum indicators, traders should monitor price action carefully, especially around the 50MA level.
